Stories from BBC Alumni

By Kristin Svinth, Kindergarten Teacher at Wilson Elementary and BBC Alum

The BBC teaching program provided invaluable experience to me in my career. I was provided with tools to use in the classroom, and I learned so much about the teaching profession. My professors helped me figure out my next steps towards Idaho teaching certification. I decided that the best course for me and my family was going through the American Board. BBC helped me get started on that path, and I was able to certify (and qualifiy to teach!) within a year after graduating with my bachelors!

My degree through BBC helped me land my first job at a small private school. They were looking for someone with not only a teaching degree but a Bible background. Because I went to BBC, I had both. I worked there for 4 years before deciding to take the plunge and go into the public school system. Now I am working with students in a low income area who really need the love of Christ shown to them every day. I am able to minister through my actions to kids who really need it, students who may come from very unstable homes are able to find love and stability in my classroom.

I am grateful to BBC for all that they have done for me and my career. Because of BBC, I learned so much about teaching and the Bible. This is a wonderful gift that I am able to share with all of those around me. Whenever I hear a perspective teacher talking about college I make sure to tell them about BBC’s wonderful teaching program.
